Descriptions of Plans:

DSNP (Dual Eligible Special Needs Plan) A type of Medical Advantage Plan that caters to people who are eligible for both Medicare. These individuals are known as "duals". They all have Medicare part A and Part B and can have full or partial Medicaid.

MA (Medicare Advantage) Known as Medicare part C. A type of health plan offered by private insurance companies that are approved by Medicare. These plans provide an alternative to Original Medicare, offering additional benefits beyond what original Medicare (Part A and B) covers.

MAPD (Medicare Advantage Prescription Drug Plan) A Medicare plan that includes Part D coverage for prescribed medications. Private Insurance companies sell Medicare Advantage, which typically offer benefits beyond that of Original Medicare.

Medigap (Medicare Supplemental Insurance) An extra insurance you can buy from a private health insurance company to help pay your share of out-of-pocket costs in Original Medicare, like copayments, coinsurance and deductible.

CSNP (Chronic Condition Special Needs Plan) A type of Medicare Advantage plan designed for people who have chronic or disabling conditions This program offers specialized care to treat and manage long-term conditions such as congestive heart failure, diabetes, substance dependence and chronic obstructive pulmonary disease
